Driver dies after multi-vehicle collision; DUI arrest made
Las Vegas Metro Police said one person is dead after a crash Wednesday night.

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Desert Inn Road and Paradise Road killed one person and injured two others Tuesday evening, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:09 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2026, and marks the 73rd traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for the year.

What happened

According to LVMPD, a burgundy 2017 Honda Accord was stopped at a red traffic signal facing westbound on East Desert Inn Road. A white 2007 Hyundai Sonata, was traveling westbound and struck the rear of the Honda Accord.

The Hyundai’s driver then drove around the Honda Accord and accelerated westbound through the intersection. A white 2022 Honda Civic was stopped southbound on Paradise Road. As the Honda Civic entered the intersection, the front of the Hyundai Sonata collided with the driver’s side of the Honda Civic.

Emergency medical services transported both the Hyundai and the Honda driver to Sunrise Hospital. Despite life-saving measures, the driver of the Honda Civic, only identified as a 28-year-old man, was pronounced deceased.

Police later identified the Hyundai’s driver as Daylon Bernstine, 60, after he exhibited signs of impairment at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The driver of the Honda Accord sustained minor injuries, police say.

The crash remains under investigation.
