Rosen, Cortez Masto celebrate upholding of birthright citizenship

WASHINGTON DC (KOLO) - Nevada Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen are celebrating the Supreme Court’s upholding of Birthright Citizenship.
The court issued their ruling Tuesday morning.
In a statement released shortly after the decision was announced, Rosen, calling Trump’s attempts at reversing Birthright Citizenship unconstitutional said:
“It has always been clear: a child born in the United States is an American citizen,” said Senator Rosen. “I applaud the Supreme Court’s decision today to defend the U.S. Constitution and honor the right to automatic citizenship for all U.S.-born children. Today’s decision also makes clear that Donald Trump is not above the law, and he cannot unilaterally take away anyone’s constitutional rights.”
Meanwhile, fellow Nevada Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto said:
“Today, the Supreme Court upheld a fundamental American value: if you’re born in the United States, you’re an American citizen. There is no question – birthright citizenship has been and will continue to be a part of our Constitution. It’s past time for the attacks on our nation’s core ideals to end.”
