LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Almost exactly two years since her murder, the man who has been the prime suspect in the murder of 26-year-old Tabatha Tozzi has now been captured, according to the FBI.

Las Vegas Metro Police said Oswaldo Perez-Sanchez was taken into custody in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico by the Fiscalía Unidad Especializada en Aprehensiones with support from the Mexican Marines and Agencia Ministerial de Investigación Criminal.

The bureau previously told FOX5 that he has ties to Southern California and Mexico. Metro Police says he faces charges in Mexico and is pending extradition to the United States.

“We have relentlessly pursued this fugitive, and the family can rest knowing that he is now in custody,” said District of Nevada U.S. Marshal, Gary Schofield.

“The collaboration required to apprehend this fugitive exemplifies the importance of teamwork,” said FBI SAC, Spencer L. Evans. “We hope this outcome provides a measure of peace to the family, knowing that he is now in custody.”

Perez-Sanchez is accused of killing Tabatha Tozzi back on April 22, 2023. He was her boyfriend at the time.

Police say after he allegedly shot her during an argument, he carjacked a witness and drove off, and wasn’t seen again, until now.

Family and friends have held numerous rallies calling for his arrest, including one earlier this year in February. We also know that they will gather again later this month to honor the second anniversary of Tozzi’s passing.

LVMPD thanked to the U.S. Marshals Service Nevada Violent Offender Task Force, U.S. Marshals Service - District of Arizona Tucson, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration Nogales Resident Office, and Customs and Border Protection Special Operations Group in San Diego for their work to locate Oswaldo Perez-Sanchez.

LVMPD is the lead agency on this case.
