Carson City man arrested on charges of shooting family dog

TRUCKEE, California (KOLO) - The Truckee Police Department says a man from Carson City has been arrested on charges of shooting a family dog in 2025.

They say Gian Mendoza Silverio shot the dog inside the residence located on Deerfield Drive in December of last year.

Silverio was arrested in Nevada on Wednesday and is being held pending extradition to Nevada County where he faces felony charges of stalking, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, cruelty to an animal and vandalism.

Police say Silverio specifically targeted that location and was aware of an individual associated with the residence. Police also say the residents did not know him or have a personal relationship with him. s
