LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A parked police cruiser was struck by an alleged drunk driver late Saturday night while officers were responding to a separate call, according to officials.

The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 5, according to the North Las Vegas Police Department.

A Jeep Cherokee collided with the parked, unoccupied patrol vehicle, which had its emergency lights activated as part of an active service call in the area.

No officers were inside the cruiser at the time of the collision, and no injuries to police personnel were reported.

Following the crash, North Las Vegas police issued a stern warning to the public regarding the dangers of driving under the influence.

“This could have ended very differently,” the department said in a statement. “We cannot say this enough…please stop driving drunk. Driving impaired puts everyone at risk—our officers, other drivers, pedestrians, families, and you. Make a plan. Call a rideshare. Call a friend.”

The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
