E-scooter rider dies after Boulder City crash, police say
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A e-scooter rider died Tuesday after a crash in Boulder City.
In a release from Boulder City, officials stated that the incident occurred just before 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Buchanan Boulevard and Private Drive near Boulder City.
When officers arrived, they found a person, identified as Wyatt Joseph Holiday, 22, with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.
Investigators believe the man was riding an e-scooter along the sidewalk when he entered the intersection as the driver of a red 2016 Chrysler attempted to make a right turn north on Buchanan when they struck the rider.
Police say Holiday was ejected from his e-scooter. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, investigators said.
“Witnesses and Boulder City first responders made every effort possible to save the man,” said Ned Thomas, Boulder City manager.
Police said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative. Impairment did not appear to be a factor in the incident.
NHP reports there have been 53 fatal crashes in the Southern Nevada region in 2025 so far.
In the release, Boulder City officials detailed new ordinances for devices like e-scooters and e-bikes, saying:
This summer, the Boulder City Council approved what is currently the strictest ordinance for motorized devices, such as e-scooters and e-bicycles, in Clark County. It spells out regulations for riding these devices. The ordinance also makes helmets mandatory for all minors on regular bicycles, e-bikes, and escooters. Boulder City children in need may obtain free helmets by contacting Boulder City Fire Department at 702.589.9641. More about the ordinance is available at www.bcnv.org/bikesafety.
