LEWISVILLE, Texas (Meredith/KTVT/CNN) -- A disturbing video shows a Texas teenager putting a small dog into a clothes dryer and then turning on the machine.
In the video, originally posted to Instagram, the teen can be heard saying, "I'm gonna put his a-- back in the dryer."
After shoving the animal into the machine, the teen is seen clapping her hands while screaming and laughing. The dryer runs for about five seconds before the teen opens the door and the dog frantically crawls out.
The video went viral over the weekend, grabbing the attention of Dallas police.
Animal cruelty detectives later determined the incident happened in Lewisville, Texas, and handed over the investigation to the Lewisville Police Department.
Authorities eventually identified the teen in the video, but did not release her name because she's a minor and has not been charged.
Animal cruelty laws in Texas prohibit torture, defining it as anything that causes unjustifiable pain and suffering. It's a felony punishable by a fine, time in prison or both.
