(WCCO/Meredith) -- A family in Minnesota is asking for help after two war medals, including a Purple Heart, were stolen from a Vietnam veteran.

The medals were taken during a burglary at their home on Easter.

"On my wall in my office was my Purple Heart medal and a Bronze Star medal, and for some reason they think they needed to take that," Richard Obershaw told WCCO

Obershaw served as a US Army Staff Sergeant in the Vietnam War for 9 months.

"It brings back a lot of memories of how I got them in Vietnam. Got shot there in May of 1969 and was awarded those medals, so I'm pretty proud of them," he said.
