LAS VEGAS (FOX5) - The speed limit on the 215 Beltway between Craig Road and Hualapai Way is increasing from 45 to 65 miles per hour in both directions, according to a Clark County spokesperson.

The change in the northwest valley is the result of a a milestone passed on a road construction project.

The change goes into effect in the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 31.

Travel lane closures in the area, and on Loan Mountain and Ann roads can be expected during construction also, Clark County reported.

The project turns three miles of the 215 Beltway "into a full freeway, new floodwater detention basins and other flood control improvements, an extension of the western Beltway bicycle/pedestrian trail, new highway interchanges at Lone Mountain and Ann roads and a bridge carrying Centennial Parkway over the highway."
