Responders find elderly woman shot dead in burning Henderson home


Henderson Police asked for the public's help to find an 84-year-old woman's killer.

On July 6 at 10:30 a.m., Henderson Police and fire responded to an apartment fire at 501 East Lake Mead Parkway. The woman was found inside the burning apartment with "apparent trauma to her head and face," police said.

She was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital – De Lima Campus where she was pronounced dead at 11:27 a.m.

The Clark County Coroner identified the woman as Donna D. McElfresh of Henderson. Her cause of death was a gunshot wound to her head, and her "manner of death" was homicide.

This was the fifth homicide investigated by Henderson Police in 2018.
