Police: Man shot, killed girlfriend in apparent murder-suicide in southwest Las Vegas

Las Vegas Metro police said they are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a couple in the southwest valley.

Officers responded to reports of two people found with gunshot wounds at 11:31 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 7600 block of South Rainbow Boulevard, near Robindale Road on Thursday.

According to a release, officers located a deceased man and woman in an apartment unit. Metro detectives were called to the scene and they determined the shooting was a murder-suicide.

Police said the suspect, 25-year-old Diosdan Benitez-Cruz, shot and killed 20-year-old Claudia Cordero-Garcia then turned the gun on himself. Benitez-Cruz and the victim were dating and living together.
