Officials: Fire destroys garage in Silverado Ranch home

A large fire caused costly damages to a home in the Silverado Ranch community on Monday.

Clark County Fire Department crews were dispatched to reports of a fire at a two-story home in the 1000 block of Hernandez Avenue, near South Maryland Parkway and East Serene Avenue, at 2:48 p.m.

Four engines, one truck, one rescue and two battalion chiefs including Henderson Fire Department assistance battled the flames and smoke emerging from the home's garage. It took crews approximately ten minutes to extinguish the blaze, according to deputy chief Jeff Buchanan.

One person was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation and was later released, a release said.

Officials estimated the damages at $40,000.
