LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- Las Vegas police were responding to a critical injury crash in the central valley on Thursday night.

About 6 p.m. on Jan. 13, police responded to Washington Avenue and Down Way. There, police said a 48-year-old man was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk.

A 2013 Kia Sorento driven by a 43-year-old man was traveling eastbound when the pedestrian stepped into the driver's path, police said.

The man was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver nor his passenger were injured.

Washington was closed in both directions for the investigation. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
