Elderly woman critically injured after crash in northwest Las Vegas

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police responded to a critical accident in northwest Las Vegas Wednesday afternoon that left one woman in critical condition.

According to Metro, a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was heading west on West Ann Road and approaching North Bradley Road, near North Decatur Boulevard, at around 5:21 p.m. The driver, identified by police as 20-year-old Devin Ruemmele, was also going over the speed limit.

Catherine Miller, 79, was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Beetle and heading east on Ann Road in the left travel lane, police said. She made a left turn on a flashing yellow signal when her car was struck by the Chevrolet.

According to police, the impact of the collision carried the Chevrolet into a block wall on the northwest corner of the intersection. Both drivers were taken to University Medical Center Trauma.

Miller sustained critical injuries, though impairment was not considered a factor for either diver, police said. Ruemmele sustained "moderate injuries."

The collision remains under investigation by Metro's Collision Investigation Section.
