LAKE COUNTY, Fla. (WKMG) – A call to a Florida sheriff’s office to report a missing person quickly turned into a death investigation.

The victim’s daughter arrived at the Lake County home Wednesday in search of her mother.

Deputies started investigating Wednesday night and found a bullet hole through the victim’s passenger-side window with blood inside.

When deputies searched the vehicle, they found the missing woman dead in the rear hatchback area under a blanket.

The sheriff’s office said they learned from the victim’s family members and neighbors that the woman had an ongoing dispute with the man next door over property lines.

Deputies said the next-door neighbor then became a suspect. His truck was still in the driveway, but when law enforcement tried to contact him inside the home, they did not get a response.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and called in a SWAT team.

When SWAT went inside, deputies found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office.

Neighbors described the neighborhood as a quiet community.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately identify the suspect or victim.
