Thunderbirds fly over Las Vegas Valley in America250 celebration
Flyover marked first delta formation pass over Las Vegas since 2020
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds flew over the Las Vegas Valley on Saturday evening as part of Southern Nevada’s America250 celebration.
The flyover was conducted in partnership with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

Departing from Nellis Air Force Base, the Thunderbirds’ six-aircraft delta formation flew over landmarks and neighborhoods across the Las Vegas Valley before making a pass over Hoover Dam. The flight path included the Las Vegas Strip, North Las Vegas VA Medical Center, Lone Mountain, Las Vegas Ballpark, Red Rock Canyon, Mt. Charleston, Hoover Dam and Boulder City.
The flyover marked the first time since 2020 that the Thunderbirds’ delta formation flew over Las Vegas. The flight paid tribute to Southern Nevada’s role in America’s story as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.
Second flyover scheduled for Tuesday
The Thunderbirds are scheduled to fly over Hoover Dam and its 45,000-square-foot American flag at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, as they travel to Washington, D.C., for Salute to America250 celebrations.
Both flyovers are part of a broader summer celebration across the Las Vegas area that includes fireworks and patriotic displays at Hoover Dam.
