American flag along Hoover Dam to be lowered Wednesday due to forecasted winds
The 300-by-150-foot flag was installed for America 250 celebrations in Nevada
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Officials with The Hoover Dam are lowering the American flag placed on the dam last week due to upcoming windy conditions.
According to the official Hoover Dam page on Facebook, the American flag on the downstream side of the dam will be lowered Wednesday, June 3, until further notice. It is slated to be raised again when weather conditions allow.
This comes after officials closed the top of the dam early on Thursday to allow crews to readjust the American flag on the front-facing side of the dam. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said the flag is 300 feet wide and 150 feet tall and is suspended across a portion of the dam.

The flag was installed on Memorial Day to kick off Nevada’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday. Gov. Joe Lombardo was present for the activation alongside Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs, Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson, LVCVA President Steve Hill and Department of Reclamation Regional Director Genevieve Johnson.
