LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Downtown Las Vegas marked St. Patrick’s Day Tuesday night with a celebration at the Fremont Street Experience, drawing visitors and locals to the three-day event.

Attendees enjoyed live music from Irish and Celtic bands throughout the evening.

New this year: Irish jig contest

A costume and Irish jig contest was added to the celebration for the first time this year, with more than $3,000 up for grabs for top performers.

Bash-goers described the event as a highlight of the holiday.

“This is the best place to go for St. Patrick’s Day,” one attendee said. “It’s kind of the biggest party in town.”

Another attendee echoed the sentiment. “It’s so fun in Las Vegas. This is the best time to be having St. Patrick’s Day. Everybody’s wearing their green. And if you’re not wearing green, I’m going to pinch you.”
