Pride of Philly Steaks donates original neon sign to The Neon Museum Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Neon Museum Las Vegas is getting an iconic sign from a fan-favorite local restaurant.
Pride of Philly Steaks is donating its “P.O.P.S.” neon sign to the museum, where it will be permanently preserved as part of the city’s visual and cultural history.
The sign, which features the restaurant’s original logo, sat on top of the restaurant’s A-frame building from its opening in 2002 until its recent refresh and expansion.
“Generations of locals and visitors have spotted the neon sign from Decatur Boulevard and made the restaurant part of their Las Vegas experience,” said Christina Walton, owner of Pride of Philly Steaks. “Donating it to The Neon Museum ensures this piece of our history lives on in a place that truly celebrates the spirit of Las Vegas.”
Aaron Berger, executive director of The Neon Museum, said the sign reflects the city’s culture and small business legacy.
“The Pride of Philly Steaks sign embodies the character and community spirit that defines Las Vegas,” Berger said. “By preserving this local landmark, we honor the city’s small businesses and ensure that its iconic neon continues to tell the story of our vibrant and ever-changing cultural heritage.”
The Neon Museum shared video on social media of crews carefully removing the original sign and loading it for transport downtown.
The sign will debut at The Neon Museum this summer.
