POP’s challenges Las Vegas locals to two-foot cheesesteak eating contest

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Looking for a good way to celebrate National Cheesesteak Day?

POP’S Philly Steaks is offering Las Vegas locals the chance to win one year of free cheesesteaks in honor of National Cheesesteak Day on Sunday, March 24.

The catch? Contestants have to finish a two-foot cheesesteak in under 10 minutes to win.

For those who have what it takes, the contest begins at 3:00 p.m. and dozens of customers are expected to arrive.

“We wanted to add an extra layer of excitement to the day by hosting our very own cheesesteak eating contest,” said Christina Walton, owner of POP’S Philly Steaks. “It’s our way of thanking our loyal customers for their continued support over the past 22 years.”

Those looking to celebrate more casually can enjoy a $10 special on cheesesteaks all day, and cheer on the contestants as they try to break records.

“I am taking that… I’d be shocc’d if I didn’t get top 3 at least,” commented contestant Alex Ross (@kinglawh on Instagram) who nicknamed himself Mr. #4 as a tribute to the #4 provolone cheesesteak he orders almost weekly.
