LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Las Vegas police are investigating a homicide near Buffalo Drive and Alta Drive in the west Las Vegas Valley Wednesday night.

According to Lt. Jason Johansson with LVMPD, around 6:45 p.m. police received reports of a shooting when a woman called saying her boyfriend shot another man at their house.

Officers arrived and found the woman along with two kids standing near the driveway.

Johannson said prior to the shooting, the woman was involved in an altercation in front of the house.

During the argument, the man grabbed a bat from a vehicle and started smashing several other vehicles parked in the driveway.

He then goes to the front door and kicks in the door, Johannson said.

At some point in time he makes his way to the back area of the house, the lieutenant said. That’s when police say the woman’s boyfriend shot the victim.

Police found the body of a man appearing to be in his 40s in the backyard. The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Lendor Conrad Coney Jr., 37, from Las Vegas. Coney Jr. died from multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Based on preliminary information investigators believe the three adults knew each other.

The boyfriend, in his 30s, was taken into custody without incident.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
