LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide in a neighborhood near Nellis Boulevard and Washington Avenue.
Police say it took place in the 1200 block of North Christy Lane.
LVMPD says the victim, a man in his 30′s, was in his car when a suspect ran up to him and opened fire into the vehicle.
Police say the suspect ran off after that attack and is still at large.
When police got to the scene officers say the victim was still inside the car and still alive but died later at the hospital.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Sergio Giovanni Calzada, 21, from North Las Vegas. Calzada died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide.
It is unclear if the shooting was random or not, police told FOX5 on the scene it’s too early in the investigation to tell.
LVMPD has not released any further information.
