LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Las Vegas police investigated a homicide near UNLV Thursday evening.

According to police, officers responded to the area 4680 South Maryland Parkway, near Tropicana Avenue April 14 for an incident that occurred near an RTC bus stop.

Lt. Ray Spencer of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police’s Homicide Section said two men on board an RTC bus got into a fight. Both men got off at the stop near UNLV where the fight continued near the In N Out Burger.

Spencer said a Black man in 30s stabbed another Black man in 50s multiple times. The man in his 50s was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

An In N Out security guard witnesses the fight and ran to break it up, Spencer said. The guard took the suspect into custody as arriving officers came on scene, according to Spencer.

The suspect was identified by police as Emanuel Beccles, 31.

It is unknown as of Thursday night if the two men knew each other or if they got on the bus together, Spencer said.

The Clark County Corner’s Office will release the identity of the victim once next of kin have been notified.

Police will use bus surveillance footage to help in the investigation. The fight involved two men who had no affiliation with UNLV, Spencer said.

Traffic was blocked on Maryland Parkway between Tropicana and Flamingo while officer investigated the scene.
