THE RANT
TOPIC: John Frederick
NAME: David
RANT: John loved his dog as one would love a son or daughter. Jordan was his life and his friend. Being a dog owner myself, I can understand what that might have been like for John. Over the past 13 months, John has been dealing with depression. The truth is John quit Channel 3 after a few employees of Channel 3 complained of his canine on the set. To this day John feels for the loss of his friend and has never gotten over the missed friendship that John had with Jordan. The story that Channel 8 showed last night that played the phone messages of John, in my opinion, was uncalled for. Channel 8 did not tell the whole story, only what Channel 8 wanted to tell. John had given "Jane" a photo of Jordan taken at Channel 3 and signed by Sue Manterais, Tom Hawley and others on Jordan’s last day. John thought he had a copy of the photo, however after "Jane" had left John’s home, John realized that he had given "Jane" his only copy of the photo. In an attempt to get the photo back, John decided to call "Jane," however "Jane" would not answer his calls and it escalated from there. John has not been in contact with "Jane" for a few weeks and dose not plan to do so ever again. John has apologized for his actions to "Jane" privately. Now thanks to Channel 8, he will have to do so publicly. When learning of Channel 8’s decision to run the story, Channel 3 did consider not running the story but has decided in the best interest of KVBC to do so. When Jordan died, John had to go on medication just to cope with the everyday life that he had made for himself both at home and at Channel 3. The loss of his beloved friend Jordan was just too much. John Frederick was and still is a nice person.
TOPIC: The City And Dead Animals
NAME: Anonymous
RANT: I went to report a dead animal today. The lady at animal control was very rude and told me to call another number. I called that number and they were closed because of the holiday. They said to call 311 for dead animals and any non-emergency and to leave a message. So I called 311 and they connected me to another number and that number told me to call animal control. I called them back and again I got that same lady. She started to raise her voice saying I had the wrong number. Really? Animal control do something better with dead animals. No one should get the runaround when there is a dead animal in the middle of the road. This cat was somebody's pet. It's sad enough that it's dead but with cars it's going to be nothing the longer it takes for someone to pick it up. Get a grip City of Las Vegas and stop giving the runaround. Being on the phone for 10 minutes is ridiculous. I was close to going and picking it up myself.
TOPIC: DMV
NAME: Chris
RANT: Recently I placed my motorcycle into my garage for long-term storage. Soon after I received a notice stating my registration had been suspended because they could not find my insurance in their computer. I called my insurance company and they told me that they tried to tell the DMV that they had not changed the state of the insurance registration and the DMV would not listen. If I cannot change this I will have to pay an extra $250 just to re-register my motorcycle. Is this what it has come to just to bring in more money to help our DMV offices? I call this screwing with our citizens. They probably call it raising money. DMV lines are bad enough. This is the last straw.
TOPIC: Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade
NAME: Rick
RANT: I watched the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade on Cox Channel 96 and was so completely disappointed by the broadcast. The three hosts acted as juveniles and not professionals. Steve Shore from Cox was rude to the Chicago representatives honoring our veterans. He asked completely inappropriate questions of our mayor and high jacked the show for his own egotistical means. The director and technical director had no clue and missed the shots. Talking heads don't make a parade. The parade makes the parade. Maybe next year’s parade could be broadcast on Channel 5. I am sure you would give this important honor the professionalism and respect it deserves.
TOPIC: H1N1 In Schools
NAME: Worried Mother
RANT: We hear now that the CDC is upset with the SNHD for not giving out the H1N1 shot to all those who should have it. What about the schools being able to lie to the parents about having cases of H1N1 in the schools? We all know by now that if you are getting the flu this year, it will be H1N1. The parents have a right to know if it’s in the school their child attends. That way parents are aware and can watch for a secondary infection, because that’s when it is dangerous. When is someone going to make the schools tell parents the truth? Quit protecting the pride of your school and protect the kids and their families. Honesty is the best policy!
