THE RANT

TOPIC: School Funding

NAME: MaryBeth

RANT: Why is it that a majority of the other states have lotteries that help with school funding, and in Las Vegas, all of the casino owners can't afford to give to the community at all? Are they so money hungry that they can't help to support a child learning about the arts or more in-depth science? I am ashamed to live in a city where the casinos are going "bankrupt" and our future generations are being left behind. Isn't our state one of the worst as far as the education system? Geez, doesn't anyone get it? Our lawmakers don't, that's for sure. So our kids miss out. Our teachers make almost nothing. Let's just say that greed holds this city so tightly, no wonder it's going downhill faster than any other city in the United States.

TOPIC: Air Traffic

NAME: Terry

RANT: OK! Stop the whining about the air traffic at NLV airport. I live DIRECTLY in the Nellis AFB flight pattern. Every day at all times of the day and night they fly right over our homes going to the test sites and other locations. These planes fly during Red Flag exercises with live bombs on them to drop on their practice targets. So GET A LIFE, people, these airports were there before we were and frankly, we love hearing the AF planes as we know our guys are protecting us all. You have a better chance of being killed while working around your home than having a plane drop on you. Stats show that most all fatal accidents happen within 25 miles of your home. Stop with the cry baby stuff.

TOPIC: Renting at Country Club Apartments

NAME: Valarie

RANT: Signing a lease at the Country Club Apartments in Henderson has been a large headache. The leasing agent made several mistakes which had to be corrected. Now, after living here for 6 months, they put a note on my door stating I didn't tell them I had a cat. The agent knew I had a cat and waived the fee on the lease signing. She told me what to fill out on the application, and now they want money for a cat they now claim they knew nothing about. Don't rent here. What you think you’re paying isn't what you’re going to be charged at a later date. If you think I am wrong, stroll through sometime and look at all the empty units.

TOPIC: Administering H1N1 Vaccine

NAME: Jim

RANT: I just saw your report on the health department administering the nasal vaccine and was disgusted by what I saw! Although some of the personnel were wearing GLOVES when giving it and touching peoples faces one right after the other, MOST of the personnel were NOT! Here we have a communicable flu and the health care "professionals" are spreading who knows what from one person to the other as they administer the vaccine with no gloves, touching people’s faces, etc. What is going on here?

TOPIC: People Who Let Cats Roam

NAME: Diane

RANT: Las Vegas is being inundated with cats that have been abandoned and residents who let their cats roam. Sadly, we have little wildlife to observe here. Fortunately, we do have beautiful birds (not pigeons). In my yard alone, everyday I pick up remains and feathers of these beautiful creatures. I have observed four cats in my yard, usually at nightfall and early morning, on the hunt. These cats MUST be dealt with because they reproduce like mice and spread disease. I will do my part, so people, keep your cats indoors.
