THE RANT

TOPIC: Animal Shelter Adoption Fees

NAME: Kathy

RANT: To the woman who wants Adoption fees waived: The average adoption fee of $100-$200 is a small price to pay for an animal that has been spayed/neutered, current shots and micro-chipped! The $200 that you may be unwilling to pay is just a fraction of the cost that each shelter must pay out for each animal. If you are not willing to pay a small adoption fee, then maybe you are not ready for the expense of a pet!

TOPIC: Valley Teachers

NAME: Donna

RANT: To the caller who complained her fourth-grade daughter is reading at second-grade level and blames teachers: We paid good money to put our children through college to be teachers for CCSD. They inturn, pour their lives (and THEIR OWN MONEY) into teaching your children. Did you read to your daughter from the time she was little? Do you read with her every night? Most likely she parks her fannyy in front of a tv of video game rather than a good book. Don't blame the teacher for what obviously is lacking at home.

NAME: Mrs. S

RANT: To the parent complaining about your child's reading ability: It is your fault! How dare you let your child get behind two years! Teachers are here to help -- you are the main source of a child's education. If I found my child was behind her level, I'd seek help before it's too late. Besides, the class size in Clark County School District is at least 20 to 1. And how many kids do you have? Who is not doing their job? You are!

NAME: A Substitute Teacher

RANT: I wish everyone would stop complaining about the school district. As a substitute teacher, I am at a variety of schools, and they are getting things accomplished. Parents, please understand that your kids go to school to learn and, more importantly, the learning needs to continue at home.

NAME: Jamey

RANT: I'm sorry lady, but it's your daughter that has the problem. Why haven't you ensured she is reading at home to enhance her reading ability? I have a son in the third grade -- about to enter 4th grade -- and at midyear, he was tested at a 7.2 grade level. As his mom, I ensure he reads at home. The teachers don't have enough time in the day to raise your child. It's not the teacher, but the CCSD curriculum that's horrible. The teachers' hands are tied by administration, not because they can't teach. If you're so concerned about your child's education, have you thought about home schooling? Let's see how you do.
