LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Six-year-old Mailynn, going into first grade this year, is one of the first 850 other students to ever walk the halls of Kenneth Divich Elementary School.

Mailynn said she already loves her new school and is planning what she'll wear the first day.

"The best I can find," she said of her outfit. "I'm going to just ask my mom what to wear because I'm just too excited."

Friday students like Mailynn got a chance to see their new classrooms and meet their new teachers.  They also got a chance to meet their new Principal, Elizabeth Katten.

"There are a lot of people here," she says of the schools grand opening. "I'm just so excited to meet everyone and get to know all the names of the kids."

The grand opening at Divich Elementary, was one of three Friday. There were two others at Ellis Elementary and Shirley Barber Elementary as well. These new schools were made possible by the Capitol Improvement Program which allows CCSD to use bonds for construction.

Today hundreds of people came to see the unveiling of the new schools, and new Superintendent Jeuss Jara was also there.

"I think I have been well received. I am really trying to listen," he said as a band began to play. "This is just a celebration. It's a great time."
