LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A public hearing in regards to the death of Tashii Brown by former Las Vegas Metropolitan police officer Kenneth Lopera is scheduled for Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. at the Clark County Government Center's Commission Chambers.

According to a press release, the district attorney's office requested permission from the Clark County Manager to conduct a Police Fatality Public Fact Finding Review after a grand jury decided not to return an indictment for Lopera.

Lopera was accused of asphyxiating Brown, also known as Tashii Farmer after a chase through The Venetian ended outside when Lopera used an unapproved "rear-naked chokehold" on Brown. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Clark County Coroner's Office found Brown was intoxicated on methamphetamine and had an enlarged heart, however, he died due to a chokehold.
