LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The officers and suspect involved in a deadly officer-involved shooting over the weekend have been identified.

The officers involved in the shooting were identified as Officer James Ferrante, 35, and Officer William Marx, 48, according to Las Vegas Metro police. Ferrante has been with Metro since April 2008 and Marx since July 1997. Both officers are assigned to the special weapons and tactics bureau.

According to the Clark County Coroner's Office, the suspect was identified as Danzel Boyd. He died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said a woman reported a rape and kidnapping to the police at their downtown area command about 9:15 p.m. on Friday. The victim told police where the suspect, identified as Boyd, was and they located him in an apartment at West Baltimore and Fairfield avenues, near the Stratosphere hotel-casino.

Boyd was ordered out of the apartment but refused, leading to a 16-hour standoff. Two others in the apartment were able to leave.

In that time, police said they attempted to get Boyd out of the apartment using non-lethal methods and contacted him by phone, but were not successful. Boyd fired sporadically out the front door throughout the incident. Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Ailee Burnett said Boyd stated he wanted to die.

SWAT was called to the scene Saturday morning and after making contact, Officers Ferrante and Marx fatally shot Boyd at about 1:15 p.m. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

This was the 11th officer-involved shooting of 2018 for LVMPD.

Both officers have been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
