LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A family of four was displaced after a fire destroyed a bedroom in their home in the Charleston Heights neighborhood early morning Tuesday.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue crews responded to reports of a fire at the one-story home on Slayton Drive, near Jones Boulevard and Alta Drive, at 3:23 a.m. Crews began attacking the fire in a rear bedroom and extinguished the flames about five minutes later, according to public information officer Tim Szymanski.

An adult and three children were displaced as a result. The American Red Cross is assisting the family, a release said.

Investigators believe the fire started inside a wall around an electrical outlet. They said the fire was likely smoldering in the wall for some time before breaking through into the bedroom.

No injuries were reported. Damages are estimated at $30,000.
