LAS VEGAS (AP) -

Winter is here! Las Vegas Valley residents can expect cool temps Friday ahead of the holiday weekend.

Another day of cooler than usual temperatures kicks off to get us into the Christmas spirit.

FOX5 meteorologist Les Krifaton said daytime temperatures Friday will hit 52, four degrees below normal.

Warming starts Saturday and reaches 65 degrees by Tuesday. A ridge sitting in the eastern Pacific continues to deflect storm systems away from our area, Les said.

The long range forecast suggests it will be warmer and dry though the holiday season and into the start of 2018. keep conditions around our area dry right into 2018.

If that holds true, Sunday we will have gone 102 days without any rain at McCarran International Airport, making it the longest stretch without rain since 1944 when we went 101 days.
