PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

A man has died days after he was struck by a vehicle and his truck was stolen in Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Around 6 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the area of 1000 N. 48th Street regarding a person hit by a vehicle, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

According to Phoenix police, the victim was identified as Mario Cordova, 34.

We spoke to his wife about the tragedy. "I don't understand why," said Luz Molina. "He's a very good man. A good father. A good husband."

Cordova was found on the road and was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries, police said.

He died a few days after the incident.

"My heart is broken," said Molina.

"He was such a beautiful person inside," said the victim's sister-in-law Lizbeth Molina. "He harmed no one. He was friends with the community. The worst thing about this is that we don't know what happened to him."

Police said the victim's vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was described as a light gray, 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel with Arizona license plate BFZ2164.

At this time, Phoenix police say Cordova's truck has not been found.

"It's been reported stolen," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune.

Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has any information regarding the incident was asked to call Silent Witness at 480-948-6377.

The victim leaves behind his wife and two children. His wife is also expecting their third child.

The family has set up a Go Fund Me account to help the family.
