LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Clark County Coroner's office identified a man who was shot and killed near downtown Las Vegas Wednesday night.

Metro said officers responded to the 600 block of North 10th Street, near East Bonanza Road, just after 8 p.m. with reports of a shooting.

Police said they found a man inside a residence at that location suffering from a gunshot wound. This person was transported to the University Medical Center where he died a short time later.

The coroner identified him as 48-year-old Kenneth Lynn Jefferson.

Homicide detectives reported this situation may have been a narcotics related shooting.

Detectives also said a red Jeep Cherokee, occupied by three unidentified people, was last seen leaving the area.

This was the 157th homicide investigated by Metro in 2016.

The identify of the deceased will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office after family has been notified.

Anyone with further information regarding this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
