LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police said a man who was arguing with a former lover was shot and killed late Tuesday after another person intervened in the conflict.

According to police, officers were called to an apartment complex in the area of Peace Way and Durango Drive at about 10 p.m. for a domestic dispute call.

A couple's argument spilled into the parking lot at the complex before another man drove up and intervened, police said. The two men then began arguing before shots were fired by the intervening person.

The victim was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The woman in the incident was not injured.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 25-year-old Ethan Hogan and ruled his death a homicide after passing away from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Police described the suspected shooter as black and 5'10" in height. The person was last seen wearing dark clothing and was driving a dark sports car, possibly a Dodge Charger.

Police believe the encounter between the shooter and Hogan was a random act. In addition, police said a child belonging to the couple was present during the argument but not harmed.

Police believe the original argument was over a custody dispute.
