LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A motorcycle rider involved in a crash this past September died of his injuries, Las Vegas Metro police said.

The police department considers 75-year-old Frederick Marquardt's death on Sept. 23 as the 108th traffic-related fatality this year. Clark County Coroner's Office informed Metro of Marquardt's death on Tuesday.

According to police, Marquardt was on a trike-style motorcycle traveling northbound on Rainbow Boulevard on Sept. 14. The motorcycle was approaching the intersection with Desert Inn Road at a high rate of speed.

Police said Marquardt failed to slow down before approaching the vehicles stopped at the intersection. The motorcyclist struck the rear ends of two vehicles before being thrown off the bike.

Marquardt was transported to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He later died at UMC.

Police reported minor injuries among the occupants of the other vehicles involved.
