LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police responded to a barricade situation in east Las Vegas Sunday night.

According to Lt. David Gordon, of Las Vegas Metro police, at 7:30 p.m. officers responded to reports that a 51-year-old man, with a probation violation, refused to leave his mother’s home in the 4200 block of Chirr Lane, near Twain Avenue and Boulder Highway.

SWAT and the crisis negotiation team responded to the incident after attempts by patrol officers to get the man out of the home failed, Gordon said.

Approximately 15 homes in the area were evacuated or given the opportunity to evacuate, Gordon said.

Clark County School District police opened a nearby school to provide shelter for the evacuated residents.

Metro updated the situation and gave an all clear at around 2 a.m., with the incident ending peacefully at that time.
