LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Police believe an eight-year-old girl was sexually assaulted inside a northwest Las Vegas condominium complex on Thanksgiving Day. Detectives on Monday amped up their search for the perpetrator.

Detectives say an unidentified man sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl in a condominium complex near Lake Mead Boulevard and Buffalo Drive on Nov. 24, before walking eastbound through the complex.

According to police, the man was able to get the girl alone and take her to a secluded area after he instructed the victim's younger brother to go inside, when the two siblings were playing outside at about 1 p.m.

Neighbors in the area said they are concerned for the safety of their own children after the incident.

"We lived in this area before and wanted to come back to this area, but it's a pretty safe area," said Mike Roeder. After he heard a young girl was assaulted a few blocks away from his home, he said he was concerned about his kids.

Loni Delahuerta said while the area is nice, she has noticed some changes. "The quality of people and they're renting out to whoever. We have strangers passing by in here. They come through the gates or they wait until we open the gate and they come in."

Metro describes the suspect as an older white male, with a thin build and either white or salt & pepper hair. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and black jeans.

Anyone with any information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
