DOLAN SPRINGS, AZ (FOX5) -

Mohave County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of a young girl from September.

Officers located a female subject off the roadway of Highway 93, north of Dolan Springs, Arizona, on Sept. 28.

Authorities said they were advised of the body by a couple when they came across a body in a ravine while they were hiking in the area.

A medical examiner responded to scene and were unable to identify the body. The examiner described the deceased as a young African American girl, between the ages of 13 to 17-years-old, approximately 5’5” tall and weighing 110 to 120 pounds, with dark hair.

Wednesday, detectives said they are investigating this case as a possible homicide and asking the public for assistance in identifying the girl.

Due to exposure and decomposition, police said there was no photo obtained, and dental records are being uploaded into the national database.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, along with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations, have released reconstruction images of the girl, but may only resemble the true image according to authorities.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating leads with the assistance of the NCMEC and agencies from Nevada and California.

At this time, the Mohave County Medical Examiner has been unable to determine cause of death.

Authorities are asking for anyone with further information to contact Det. John Goodwin or the detective division at the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office at 928-753-0753 ext. 4288.
