LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

If Friday's overnight temperature was any indication, the Las Vegas Valley is heading for winter.

Despite our local mountains being barren of snow at the moment, the folks from the Skye Canyon community and Lee Canyon ski resort are "praying" for the white stuff.

A "Pray for Snow" party will take place on Saturday at Skye Canyon to celebrate the incoming ski season as well as raise funds for Operation Warmheart, which provides housing for U.S. Air Force personnel and their families.

The free event is set for 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Skye Canyon, which is located at the corner of U.S. 95 and Skye Canyon Park Drive.

Described as an après ski-themed party, the event is offering refreshments to warm folks up, including a hot chili station, a gourmet hot chocolate station and a s'mores gift box.

In addition, raffles will take place for prizes that include a high-definition television and Lee Canyon lift tickets, among others up for grabs.

Information on the event can be found at www.skyecanyon.com.
