LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A Las Vegas illusionist pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for charges relating to child pornography Thursday.

Jan Rouven Fuechtener, who the FBI also identified as 39-year-old Lars Schmidt, pleaded guilty to the possession, receipt and distribution of child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden.

A FBI task force officer based in Buffalo, NY was working undercover when he accepted a friend request by the username "Lars45" on a file sharing site called GigaTribe in Aug. 2015, officials said.

In Sept. 2015, Lars45 supplied his account password to the officer, the report said. The officer was able to access Lars45's shared directories, obtaining access to files with titles indicative of child pornography.

On Jan. 21, 2016, a search warrant was executed at Fuechtener's home, where law enforcement seized 38 devices from the home, according to the report. Law enforcement discovered more than 9,000 videos of child pornography.

Fuechtener also admitted to using the Skype name "larusa22" to distribute child pornography. The Skype name larusa22 is linked to a Gmail account registered to Fuechtener.

"The risk to our children from sexual predators is constant and continuing," said Bogden. "We will continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute these disturbing cases and dangerous defendants as part of our implementation of the Project Safe Childhood initiative throughout Nevada."

Fuechtener's sentencing is scheduled for March 16, 2017.
