LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Fly another "W."

Chicago Cubs slugger and Bonanza High School alum Kris Bryant was named the 2016 National League MVP on Thursday.

The 24-year-old Las Vegas native was an integral part of a Cubs team that won a Major League-best 103 games in 2016 on their way to the franchise's first World Series title in 108 years.

In 2016, Bryant posted a .292 batting average with 102 RBIs and 39 home runs. The home run count was third-best among third basemen in MLB this year.

In addition, Bryant was clutch during the Cubs' postseason run. He notched three home runs, including two coming at key moments in the World Series vs. the Cleveland Indians.

The MVP honor, which comes in only his 2nd season in the majors, follows his NL Rookie of the Year trophy from the 2015 season.

This is also the 2nd straight year a Las Vegan notched the NL MVP. Washington Nationals outfielder and Las Vegas High School alum Bryce Harper won the award in 2015.

Bryant is also due to make a post-MVP announcement appearance in Las Vegas on Sunday.
