LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police said an officer employed for about two years with the department was involved in a shooting Monday.

The department said 33-year-old Officer Scott Hinckley was involved in the incident near Del Arno Drive and Sandhill Road.

Officers attempted to stop an unregistered vehicle near Bonanza Road and Nellis Boulevard Monday night, but the vehicle did not stop and left at high speed, the department said. Police did not purse the vehicle, but were able to locate it a short time later. When the officer tried to approach the vehicle the driver attempted to run the officer over.
