LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A sign brought down by high winds blocked a roadway heading to a McCarran International Airport terminal Wednesday night.

According to the airport, the overhead exit sign went down just north of the Airport Connector Tunnel heading northbound on Paradise Road. The sign blocked the left roadway where the bypass splits off motorists between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.

McCarran Airport first tweeted about the blockage just after 10 p.m.

It urged motorists heading to the airport to avoid the Airport Connector Tunnel and take southbound Paradise Road or Russell Road instead.

The roadway that splits toward Terminal 3 remained open.

An official with McCarran Airport said electricians were called to the scene to repair the sign.
