PAHRUMP, NV (FOX5) -

Deputies said a Pahrump woman arrested earlier this month on a warrant kept at least three tigers on her property without the proper permits.

According to Nye County Sheriff's Office, Trisha Meyer, 34, was arrested Nov. 7 on a warrant out of Texas when deputies visited her home where the loose animals were kept in the backyard. The tigers were seen being supervised by a 17-year-old while they were feeding on raw chicken at that time.

In addition, deputies said there were eight monkeys inside the home of the property.

The sheriff's office said a neighbor informed deputies of the loose animals.

Four days before the arrest, the sheriff's department said Meyer contacted dispatchers about ways to obtain permits for keeping tigers in the county. Las Vegas Animal Control, which was the agency that received the referral on the call, informed deputies Meyer may be heading to Pahrump with a moving trailer containing illegal animals, including the tigers.

Two days before her arrest, animal control officers met with Meyer in Pahrump to confirm that no animals were on her property. She was also told keeping any exotic animals on property without the proper permit was illegal.

Deputies noted none of the tigers attacked anyone while law enforcement was on the property, and there was no reports of the animals being aggressive. In addition, the animals were placed in protective custody following the arrest.

The Nye County Sheriff's Office said charges remained pending regarding the animals. An investigation was ongoing.

The Texas warrant stems from a burglary/theft incident, according to deputies.
