LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A 62-year-old woman was identified as the pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle near the Las Vegas Strip on Monday and later died at the hospital.

According to Clark County Coroner's Office, Vivian Valentine, of Las Vegas, died of blunt force injuries as a result of an accident.

Police believe the woman was walking across Convention Center Drive near Las Vegas Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk when she was struck.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, the incident took place at 1:05 p.m. The woman was hit by a black pickup truck, police said.

She was transported to Sunrise Trauma with critical injuries. She was later pronounced dead.

Police noted the driver did not show signs of impairment at the time.

Convention Center was shut down in both directions between Channel 8 and Kishner drives.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area.

The incident marked the 100th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year. The incident was also the 32nd pedestrian-involved fatal crash for the police department in 2016.
