LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A man armed with a knife caused Metro to call SWAT officers to a scene near UNLV early Sunday morning.

Police said they responded to the area of Maryland Parkway and Tropicana Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. on a domestic violence call.

After a brief foot pursuit, officers said they contained a man armed with a knife in a parking lot at that location and called for SWAT assistance.

A perimeter was set up and the incident was treated as a barricade situation according to Metro.

There were traffic restrictions in the area on Maryland just north of Tropicana as police worked the active situation.

Metro updated the incident after 6:30 a.m. and gave an all clear when the man was taken into custody without incident.

Authorities have not released any further information at this time.
