LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police said they are investigating a crash that left two people dead and a driver under arrest for driving under the influence.

The incident occurred at 8:12 p.m. at Rainbow Boulevard and Yorktown Road, near Smoke Ranch Road Saturday.

Police said the two victims were in a Hyundai Sonata making an illegal u-turn when they were struck by a Chevrolet Camaro driven by a suspected drunk driver.

The occupants of the Hyundai, identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office as  22-year-old Jermaine Asher and 23-year-old Robert Roberts, were pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel according to officers.

The driver of the Chevy was identified as 25-year-old Willie Worthams and transported from the scene to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Citing evidence at the scene and witness statements, the Camaro appeared to have been traveling grossly over the posted speed limit before the crash according to Metro.

Officers said Worthams displayed signs of impairment and was booked on two counts of driving under the influence involving death, with two counts of reckless driving involving death.

Police said the collision remains under investigation at this time.

The victim's family created a GoFundMe account to assist with funeral costs. If you would like to assist them, you can donate here
