LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Police are investigating an early morning hit-and-run crash in the west part of town Saturday where a pedestrian was critically injured.

Officers were called to the area of Jones and Gunderson Boulevards, south of Flamingo Road, at about 5 a.m. with reports of a traffic accident.

According to police, a pedestrian was walking across Jones, outside of a crosswalk, when he was struck by a Subaru Impreza.

Police said the vehicle involved failed to stop after the collision, but the driver returned to the scene a short time later in a different vehicle.

The driver was then arrested upon his return while showing signs of impairment according to Metro.

The 27-year-old pedestrian was transported to the University Medical Center in critical condition, and the Impreza was later located at the registered owners address, police said.

Authorities reported travel restrictions on Jones for their investigation on scene.
