PD: Man fatally shot in chest near downtown Vegas

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Police said a man was fatally shot in the chest before sunrise Thursday morning in a part of Las Vegas predominant for its homeless population.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, a call of the shooting came in at 4:16 a.m. in the area of East Owens Avenue and North Las Vegas Boulevard. Officers found a man on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound.

The victim was rushed to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Citing an investigation, police said the homeless victim was laying on the sidewalk when he was shot once in the chest. Police have not identified any suspects or a motive in the case.
