A 2-year-old child is without a mother and the man police believe is responsible for killing her is behind bars.

Jevon Hudson, 39, was arrested Friday in connection to the death of Moinee Wade, police said.

Police believe Hudson shot and killed Wade Oct. 26 in the area of View Drive and Quartz Lane.

Police said Hudson and Wade were in a dating relationship, but Rodney Sargent, who said he was Wade’s boyfriend said that is not true.

Sargent said he was in a relationship with Wade since 2012 and the two have a child together.

“I have to go through life knowing the better part of me ain’t going to be there,” Sargent said.

Sargent said he was at work when Wade’s sister called and told him what happened.

“I had called her three times and texted her and I didn’t get in touch with her and I didn’t expect the news I got,” Sargent said.

Sargent believes Hudson pre-planned the murder. He said Wade and Hudson were friends and he tried to come onto her, but she refused.

“When she worked at Wildfire Rancho he was a customer and he’d come and this time we were going through things, so they picked up a friendship. It was nothing more than a friendship,” Sargent said.

Sargent said he does not know the motive behind the murder or why Wade was with him. Now, he said he is trying to find the words to tell their son why mom isn’t coming home.

The family set up a GoFundMe to help raise money for Wade’s son and for funeral expenses.

Hudson faces one count of murder and is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.
